The entry of St. Kevin's College in Melbourne, the first Victorian school compete, means this schoolboy tournament has now touched every state in Australia.
NSW Country will be represented by The Armidale School, on the rise after last week winning the Opens division at North West Secondary Schools Future Tahs Sevens gala day in Armidale, in which TAS beat O'Connor in the final.
“It’s a good opportunity for our boys to play a different format of the game at an invitational carnival with an international flavour,” TAS coach Jamie Moore said.
Making waves on the Sunshine Coast, St Teresa's Catholic College will also compete, as will returning schools Erindale College, Canberra Grammar School from ACT and Brisbane State High School.
Westfields Sports High has been tipped as the favourite this year, after an impressive showing in last year’s National Schools Sevens event. Other favourites include the host The Schools College and 2013 Cup Champion, Lloyd McDermott.
The tournament gets underway tomorrow (April 5) at 9am at the Scots College Main Oval, Victoria Road Bellevue Hill, NSW, 2023. Entry is free.
