The Cats' social responsibilty

“Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give.” ― Ben Carson

The Tabubil Cats have made several donations to the Tabubil community over the years, from donated goods brought back from Australian tours to cash donations to various communities within the township.

Cash Donations
The team has been an active part of the local community donating cash mainly to Haus Krais, Churches and sponsoring/assisting in fundraising efforts of other sporting codes.

Second-hand Goods Donations
The team has brought back a number of donations from friends in Gold Coast, Australia.

Second-hand sports gear such as jerseys, rugby boots, water bottles were donated by the Palm Beach Currumbin Alleygators Rugby Union Club to the Cats team in 2010. These second-hand boots have been donated by the executives of Tabubil Rugby to students of Wangbin Primary School and Tabubil Primary School who were in dire need of rugby boots to play with in the local competitions. The two sets of second-hand jerseys are currently being used by some teams.

In 2011 and 2012, a total of ten large bags of second-hand goods were donated to the club by Adelaide Kennedy. The bags consisted of items such as clothes, bags and shoes. In 2011, half the items were donated to the Lions Club of Tabubil and were presented to Lions Club president Los Amet and members Elizabeth Kawa and Dinah Sirae.

Also in 2012, items such as used library books were donated by Marymount State School and St. Kevins State School on the Gold Coast. The donation was facilitated by Nathan and Vicki Turner and was airfreighted by Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) to site. In July that year, the items together with second-hand clothing donated by the Kennedy family of the Gold Coast, were donated to the Catholic Church for delivery to students and families in Tabubil and those in the surrounding areas.
